The Ultimate Fascinator Wearing Guide

The Ultimate Fascinator Wearing Guide

A fascinator is a delightful accessory for women to wear to weddings, races, and garden parties. Today, we will share how to wear a fascinator.

How To Secure a Fascinator on Your Head?

Usually, you can secure it with just a clip or a headband. But if you don’t want to use a headband, especially if you have fine hair, you can keep the clip fascinator steady with a simple hairpin or bobby pin.

Here's how to do it: Place the bobby pin where you want the fascinator to sit. Then, slide the clip under the pin. This method ensures the fascinator stays in place and won’t come loose. This technique works well for customers with short or fine hair who prefer not to use a headband.

Some customers also ask if we have a "hatinator." A hatinator is a new term for a bigger headpiece than a fascinator. For example, this particular style. It's somewhat shaped like a half-hat, but it's actually called a hatinator. It's larger than a fascinator but not exactly hat-shaped. A headband will be more convenient to wear and secure on your head.

Ways to wear a fascinator.

Our fascinators at Boredroom usually come with a back clip, but almost all of them can be replaced with a headband. To do this, simply remove the clip and insert the headband.

However, some particular styles cannot be converted to a headband. These styles, which have a clip and a safety pin at the back, cannot be converted. These particular styles can be used in multiple ways: as a fascinator, clipped onto an outfit, or as a brooch. Some customers prefer not to wear a fascinator in their hair but still want a matching accessory for their outfit. You can pin these styles to your dress or jacket.

Additionally, these versatile pieces can enhance your hatinators. For example, you might want a navy hat with a pink flower. In such cases, you can buy one of these pieces to pin onto the hatinators, creating a two-toned effect. We offer these styles in various colours to match different preferences and outfits. How to Choose a Fascinator for Different Events?

If you're going to a wedding, it's best to go for a classy look that matches the theme, time, and venue. For a daytime wedding, a light-coloured fascinator made of a suitable material is a good choice. Just remember to steer clear of white fascinators.

For horse races, it’s important to match your headgear with your outfit to ensure your outfit looks as striking as possible. A bright-coloured large hatinator generally works best.

Which Side Do You Wear a Fascinator?

Today, there are no strict etiquette rules regarding fascinator placement. Traditionally, fascinators were worn on the right-hand side of the head, but nowadays, the side you wear a fascinator on depends on the style and design of the piece you choose.

Here are a few tips to consider when deciding which side to wear your fascinator:

Fascinators with clips are often attached to clips and can be positioned anywhere you like. It's fashionable and adorable to wear them near your ears at an angle, on either the left or right side, depending on your preference.

Fascinators with headbands offer flexibility. You can slide the fascinator up and down the headband to find the best angle and position for your head shape.

Just remember, the best way to find what suits you is to try it on and find a flattering position and angle you’re happy with.
